The company has won in 2007 the business-plan
contest "Pioniergeist" (Pioneering Spirit) of the Department
of Trade and Industry of Rhinland-Palatine. The price was handed over
by Mr. Hendrik Hering, Minister of Economy, Transport, Agriculture and
Viniculture to the managing directors Amélie Jennewein and Dr.
Stefan Jennewein.
At the leading international exhibition for personal care products and ingredients "in-cosmetics" in Munich, Jennewein Biotechnologie GmbH launched in April 2009 in co-operation with its partner Laserson S.A. the product L-Fucose as an active molecule for the use in cosmetic products. The further product offerings of Jennewein Biotechnologie GmbH, like GDP-Fucose and CMP-sialic acid, are used primarily in the field of pharmaceutical research and development activities, as well as in diagnostics. ![]() In the field of research and development, the main focus of Jennewein Biotechnologie GmbH is in particular on scarce mono- and oligosaccharides, which show a functional benefit. Within the scope of a BioChancePlus Project of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Jennewein Biotechnologie GmbH is, for example, developing an efficient and scalable production process for Fucosyllactose - a complex oligosaccharide known from the human breast milk. Industrial Biotechnology - Opportunities for New Products Industrial Biotechnology - also known as White Biotechnology - becomes increasingly important for our everyday life. Developments in the field of Industrial Biotechnology not only optimize or even completely replace chemical processes by the use of microorganisms and enzymes but also allow for the production of rare and complex molecules, chemical synthesis has not been able to produce at reasonable cost, so far. The economy has identified the Industrial Biotechnology as a key future technology and source of innovation, which allows to generate competitive advantage and to enter new markets. |
